Profile

Florbela Pires specializes in internal and cross border financial transactions and contracts. She has been advising credit institutions, financial companies and other clients in regulatory matters, and in the structuring of offers of securities.

She also advises private and public entities in re‑privatization proceedings and clients in insurance matters.
Before being a partner at Luiz Gomes & Associates, Florbela was a senior associate at Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira for more than a decade.
She started her career at the Portuguese Securities Commission, and later at the Portuguese Government as a legal drafter and advisor to the Council of Ministers.
Florbela led a team of Law teachers in West Africa (Guinea-Bissau) and was a member of the civilian support group at the United Nations Mission of Support In East Timor.
After graduation, Florbela has taught Law at the University of Lisbon Law School and is frequently invited to lecture on post-graduation courses and conferences on matters of Private International Law, Insurance Law and Securities Law.
